Amongst the facilities offered by the Centre there is a 50m swimming pool, a 25m teaching pool and an outdoor pool.

Characteristics of the equipped pool:

  • Length: 50m
  • Width: 12.5m and 15.6m
  • Min. depth: 1.85m
  • Max. depth: 3.85m

Poseidon Configuration:

  • 5 global-view units (10 cameras) installed at a depth of 1.6m
  • Video coverage of the pool: 50%
  • Computer-aided Surveillance: deep-end zones

The Poseidon System was installed over a 4-week period whilst the pool was drained for annual maintenance and became operational at Wycombe Sports Centre on 21 February 2001. Installation was carried out without interrupting maintenance activities. The technical staff at High Wycombe completed the electrical installation work. Poseidon Technologies conducted the staff training. The official inauguration of the site was held on 28th March 2001 and enjoyed extensive media coverage, including Tomorrow's World, BBC, Sky, National & Regional Press and Radio.

We believe this technology will be an incredible tool to aid lifeguards in their dedicated efforts and if it saves just one life, it will be more than worth it.

Paul Marston Weston, Head of Leisure Services, Wycombe District Council
